Swinging Sister's

The sisterly love in this house is quite shocking.  For every non-happy sisterly moment there are at least 20 loveable moments to make up for it.  They play better together than I ever thought imaginable.  I watch my girls, sometimes just a quick sneak peek as I walk by the room where they are busily playing, and sometimes I stop and watch or listen to them 'just for a second,' which turns into several minutes.  Of course it is always spoiled if they know I am there because somehow I suck the sisterly magic out of the room and they look at me like "what do you want?"

The girls are really into playing family lately, sometimes they are in the same family, if Blythe can convince Jericho to be the Daddy, and other times they have separate families where they are both mommy's and meeting up for a play date (suggest by me when I overheard Blythe demanding that Jericho be the Daddy and Jericho was clearly not having it).  They each gather up 4 or more dolls/stuffed animals and move their family from room to room going from the doctor to the grocery store, to gymnastics, and dance class.  Every now and then someone in the family acts up and they are promptly send to the naughty corner.

If someone gets hurt the other one quickly runs into the kitchen to fetch the boo boo bunny.

If someone needs help and the other one can't get it just right there is always one to come find mom.

When it comes to what they want to eat or drink they always want the same thing.

I know there will probably come a day when Blythe is 'too old' for Jericho and doesn't want her to play with her friends, when Jericho has to put a lock on her closet because Blythe always takes her clothes without asking, and when this love they share for each other and the way they always want to play together and be in each others presence isn't as strong.  But for now I am enjoying this moment and I am going to hold on to it and preserve it for as long as I can.

Because if the way my girls love each other is any indication of the love they have learned from Jason and I, then we are doing good.

Friday Phone Dump

We had a busy week, getting our Tower ready for our Tangled birthday party, swimming at the Fair Oaks Ranch Country Club and playing dress-up anywhere and everywhere - including in the fabric store while I shopped for Tangled costume fabric.

Jericho and Cow Appreciation Day

My oh my how times does fly by!  Today, little Miss Jericho, you are T-W-O.  This year has been fun and busy!  This year you have mastered your run, leaving your Michelin man physique behind, watched Daddy upgrade his Master's degree to a PhD, potty train, learn how to make a mean mud pie.  You had your first official scream encounter with Santa Clause and you visit the San Antonio Zoo, Children's Museum, and Sea World.  You survived 8 days without Mommy and got loved on by all your grandparents.  Being able to join the gymnastics class with Blythe was the thing you looked forward to most when turning two and you managed to squeeze your way into the class a little early!  You are a joy my little terrific two year old!

We started off our celebration of your BIRTHday with a birthday cinnamon roll, and you needed zero assistance blowing out your candles!

Your birthday happened to fall on Cow Appreciation Day at Chick-FIl-A and Mommy thought it would be fun to dress up like cow's (since you love animals) and get us some free dinner.  We convinced the Allison's that they should join us!

Jericho: The Second Year

It has been a year in the making, but the final touches are done and I have hit the
'purchase' button.  Someone around this house is turning 2 on Friday which means a new year is beginning and another has passed, but not without lots of memories!

June...Where did you go??

I know my last post said we were busy and I didn't even know how busy we truly were going to be.  Here it is the early part of July and man do I feel BEHIND.  We have a special little girl who turns TWO in less than a week.  Which means I have a memory book to publish, a joint birthday party to plan for August, and a small shindig for the actual day.  Needless to say my time for some good 'ol blogging is limited so instead I will share some memory book pages.

We had a FANTASTIC time in Arizona.  We got to see family that we haven't seen in years and oh how we love family.  This was Jericho's first time meeting her Arizona cousins and Great Aunt and Uncles and it is always fun as a mom to see your kids loved on by others.

The infamous trip...you know the one where I actually leave my kids behind for the first time...well, much to my surprise it went MUCH better than I could have ever expected.  The kids did GREAT, no one ever broke down and just lost it because they NEEDED mom, I figured that would happen at least a few times.  I made an envelope for the girls to open each morning that had a letter about what Jason and I would be doing that day and a coloring page to match the day.  I had no idea if these letters would be exciting or if the first 2 would get opened and the rest forgotten.  As it turns out the letters were very important and were eagerly opened each day, whew I got something right.  I also didn't cry myself to sleep every night with heart ache and instead loved checking my phone each time we had free WiFi to see what pictures the grandparents had sent and sending pictures of Jason and I to the kids.  I know I am new to the iphone (well any smart phone for that matter) business but I had to say that it was really neat to have a mini lap top that hooked up to hotel, restaurant, boat, etc. wifi and how easy it is to take a quick pictures and send it to the kids.  I think that really helped all of us, all the reports I got were of smiling faces and fun had by all.  A big thank you to Ladi and Papa, and Mamo who all entertained Jericho and Blythe for a great staycation.

Unfortunately, when we returned to the US my step-mother had lost her long battle with cancer and my dad was left heart broken.  The girls and I quickly washed clothes and headed to DFW to hang out with Grandpa Joe and do anything we could to help him.  We enjoyed spending time with all our cousins, but wish it was under different circumstances.

We barely got home in time for a July 4th celebration, but celebrate we did.

I am sure in the next few weeks things will slow down and I will be able to resume regular blog postings, but right now I have discussing kitchen floors, sheets that haven't been changed in weeks, grass that is taking over the garden, and bathroom cabinets that I started painting WEEKS ago that are all calling my name loud and clear.
